Epoxy Flooring Ltd completed the two-month project with meticulous preparation. First, the existing failed coating was removed by diamond grinding the surface to a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) of 3. This created the ideal surface for the new system to bond to. Damaged fibre-cement boards were replaced, and all boards were re-secured with additional mechanical fixings to guarantee substrate stability.
To enhance waterproofing and durability, all internal and external radius’s and board joints were reinforced with fibreglass bandaging. The core of the solution involved two specialised systems.
• Deckshield ED Rapide: 840m² of this UV-stable, flexible, and waterproof membrane was applied to all areas exposed to external weather conditions.
• Deckshield ID Rapide: 420m² of this durable system was installed in the covered areas of the grandstand.
The multi-layer system, including five coating layers and full fibreglass reinforcement, covered 6,200m² across the 1,260m² footprint. The strategic application of Deckshield ID and ED Rapide has not only resolved the critical issue of water ingress but also delivered a durable, safe, and aesthetically pleasing surface. The result is a revitalised community asset, fully protected and ready to serve the public for many years.
